Bowman Construction Management is a company founded by owner and operator, John T. Bowman. The services provided by John Bowman are the culmination of skills acquired throughout his tenure in the Building and Development Industry.

  The inception of Bowman Construction Management began back in the late 70’s. As with most people in the Building Industry, John began his quest working in the Construction Field during summer Months while in High School and College. He attended East Carolina University in Greenville, N.C., where he studied Construction Management. ECU’s program is the largest in the Southeastern States and is accredited by the American Council of Construction Education (ACCE). Immediately after his college days, John accepted a position of Estimator/Project Coordinator with a Commercial General Contractor, here in the Greater Hampton Roads area. During the 80’s he hass worked on such projects as Class A Offices, Auto Dealership Facilities, Educational Buildings, and large Mall Renovations. John became a Charter Member of the local chapter of the Professional Construction Estimators Association of America (PCEA).

  It was also during this time that John had the opportunity to work with a client, whom enabled Mr. Bowman to bring his Construction Administration experience and talents out in the field. He built a Retail Out Parcel project as an On-Site Construction Manager. Content with his work, he was able to see his accomplishments unfold from a realistic standpoint, rather than from typical visits made from the office. He also knew that he could market this new approach known as Construction Management and compete with traditional General Contracting. He was confident that his drive would go mostly unmatched in a field that was really untested, even to date.

  In 1990 Bowman Construction Management was formed. Starting out with little capitol, he worked as a Freelance Estimator. At this juncture he worked for clients in several phases of construction, such as Concrete, Masonry, EIFS and General Contractors, to name a few. He knew there was quite a demand for this. Most subcontractors couldn’t afford full time estimators, and with this service, these tradesmen could produce more bids on the market at a competitive rate. It wasn’t long that clients knew of Mr. Bowman having his own business, and soon he started building projects on a Construction Management basis. Building such facilities as Office Warehouses, Restaurants, and Retail Out parcels. He also offered clients General Contracting Services, which on smaller Build-Out Projects was more competitive. As sharp as he was with his Estimates and knowledge of Construction Trades, he also offered services in the Subcontracting Markets of Building Concrete and Interior Finishes. Then in 2000, he was commissioned to provide his skills for a local Multifamily Developer. It was here, where he approached a whole new area of work, and he accepted the challenge. His projects acquired more extensive Sitework. He became familiar with the elements that accompany this sort of work, and he began to capitalize on this new quest. He eventually began to market his services to Land Developers in managing large tracts of land for either Multifamily, or Single Family Home Lot Developments. He hass also worked with Appraisers, Financial Institutions and even the Judicial fields with his services. Now he has emerged as one of the leaders in this Market, in offering a full range of services needed in the Real Estate Construction and Development Industry.
